A number of people shared their memories, photos and knowledge about the whaling process in the Soviet Union. Initially the focus of the MOSCOW project was on scientists who explained the way scientific data were collected and analysed on different whaling fleets, but during the course of this work we met a number of people who were also working in or otherwise connected with the whaling industry; these individuals had unique personal stories that collectively provide a broader picture of life in the industry and ways the work was conducted. Some of the photos and stories on this site comes from families that agreed to share materials in their personal archives.

The individuals currently recognized here include Alexey Yablokov, Dmitriy Tormosov, Nikolay Doroshenko, Grigoriy Derviz, Igor Golovlev, and the late Alfred Berzin.
